Google Students@TUK is an association due to be registered
at the TUK. The association is new and it’s being formed and registered in
order to fully assist students to participate and directly benefit from the
Google Student Ambassador (GSA) program introduced by Google Inc. in the
sub-Saharan Africa few years ago. Most universities in the country have benefited
from this program over the years, but this is the very first time the TUK will
be directly benefiting from the GSA program.
The Google Student Ambassador Program is an opportunity for
students to act as liaisons between Google and their universities. These
ambassadors:
·
Learn about innovative Google products and
programs.
·
Plan and host fun Google events on campus.
·
Act as a campus contact for Google teams.
·
Help Google better understand each university’s
culture.
Google Students@TUK is an envisioned team of students who
are passionate about Information technology and of course Google products with
a keen interest in learning and teaching other students and staff how to use
these products to improve their education and social life in campus. Students
across all departments and courses are welcomed and not just Information
technology courses. You will have a privilege to work with a Google selected
and trained Ambassador from the students’ community and have an opportunity to
find out about cool Google products that are revolutionizing our world as we
know it today.
Being a Google Students@TUK means that you will be the first
to know about events organized by Google in Kenya, in the school, and even find
out about Google jobs and internship opportunities- information that may not be
available to the entire students’ community. Most importantly, prepare your own
self to participate in organizing cool and fun Google events in TUK, get Google
approved certificates, train students about cool Google products, and let’s
have fun through doing cool things that matter. Don't forget the free Google
stuff, lol.
The opportunities that come with being a Google Students@TUK
are almost immeasurable. Business students and related fields will learn about
GBG (Google Business Groups), and guys interested in technology will get to
interact with programmers and learn about GDG (Google Developer Groups). These
groups will help you to network and develop your personal CV as a student. You
will also get to attend Google events at the iHUB and at the 88mph Nairobi.
For those interested to be Google Student Ambassadors
(GSAs), the current GSA will guide you and even recommend you (based on your
participation and interest) during the annual applications. More information
and training of the Google Students@TUK will take place at our meetings, where
we shall come up with programs to introduce to rest of the population at TUK.
Thanks.
